Luther Night!

Our first youth group activity was a blast! Everyone came over for snacks and time to hang out, and then we watched "Luther" in honor of Reformation Sunday. It was a really good movie. We're really glad that we get to be part of this great group of people, and we're looking forward to the next event! Posted by Picasa

Happy Birthday to Joel!

Today is Joel's birthday! We started off the morning with traditional birthday french toast (with candle) and a few birthday prizes. Here is the happy birthday boy in his new clothes! :o)

The skies cleared on Sunday and we were given a perfect afternoon. Joel and I headed off on our bikes for a little ride around the neighborhood. We passed the Bonsal Unified School, with its charming old-fashioned school house at the front of the property. We rode past the golf course, and I liked the palm trees against the blue sky and the bright manzania bushes. Posted by Picasa

Adopt-A-Tree

On Monday, our class presented our Adopt-A-Tree reports. We had collected samples of leaves, bark, fruit, and flowers to share with the class. The posters were colorful, and everyone did a good job presenting the information. I am looking forward to our next project. . . Invertebrate Zoos! Posted by Picasa

Progressive Stories

Rainy days call for new activities! We spent a few moments last week working on "progressive stories." Each student started a story, and then after one minute, passed it to the next person in the row. We almost made it all around the room. We laughed over our crazy stories, and I was impressed by our class' creativity. We'll definitely try this again another time! Posted by Picasa

Surprise visitor! Posted by Picasa

There I was, singing in choir practice, when who should appear in the doorway but Sheila's mom, Dolly! I was so glad to see her; she is off to North Carolina, and it's hard to know when I will get the chance again. So, Sheila, thanks for telling your mom about where to find us, and Dolly, thanks for dropping by!

On Saturday night, Joel and I drov down to Coronado Island with a family from church. We celebrated Charis' 20th birthday and watched a community production of "The Merchant of Venice." It was great to spend time with our friends and enjoy the beautiful San Diego skyline at night.

We had a wonderful visit with Sheila and the kids. On Wednesday they move to the Southeast, and we were thankful for one more great visit before their big adventure. Our prayers will be with them on their way! Posted by Picasa
